Sustainability Roadmap

Sustainability is a complex undertaking, with many moving parts. Understanding what needs to be done across a complex enterprise, filled with people and groups of people with their own concerns and habitual ways of doing things, and then getting those things done, consistently, effectively, day in and day out — that’s the truly hard work of the sustainability revolution. The vast technical innovation needed to reinvent business and build a new economy is simple by comparison.

There are many elements to making that transformation possible, but core to all of these is getting everyone in the organization on the same page, with shared commitments, a clear understanding of what needs to be done, and the perspective and skills to contribute their part.

One key element of helping clients achieve this capacity is with a Sustainability Roadmap.

These strategic roadmaps typically consolidate — on a single, plotter-sized supergraphic (think 4′ x 10′) — a five or ten-year plan, visually detailing aspirational and nuts-and-bolts goals, focus areas and the year-by-year actions and accountabilities across all functional roles across all business units or departments, that will be necessary to achieve those goals.

They’re supplemented by a database of individual elements (goals, actions, accountabilities, metrics, schedules, budgets, etc.) for import info ERPs and project management systems, as well as supporting forms and templates to support implementation
