This State of California project focused on small and medium food-processing companies.
Industry: Food processing
Service: Feedback—statewide analysis of energy use within food industry
This State of California project focused on small and medium food-processing companies. It quantified the “energy and resources metabolism” of each company; diagnosed environmental quality and efficiency in multiple resource domains, and proposes prioritized, systematic eco-management plan, including action recommendations to each company; linked companies in common industries in a cooperative benchmarking process (enabling them to compare progress, and “ratchet-up” baseline performance through “cooperative competition”).
For this project, Natural Logic assisted medium-sized food processing companies to eliminate waste, save money, and gain competitive advantage. Natural Logic conducted energy, water, and other resource use analysis. Recommendations followed to help the company to improve environmental quality and efficiency in multiple resource domains, including, but not limited, to energy and water consumption, waste disposal, pollution prevention, procurement, manufacturing operations, product development, packaging, marketing, etc.
Recommendations were delivered in a summary and detailed report to each client in the form of a prioritized, schedule action checklist, starting with the “low hanging fruit” that provide high environmental and/or financial returns. The summary reports are included under attachments, and include on average about 20 recommendations per client. In addition to technical recommendations, particular attention was paid to organizational, training and implementation issues, both in assessment and report phases of the project.
