Janine Benyus

Janine Benyus is a noted life sciences writer and author of six books, including her latest — Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired By Nature. In Biomimicry, she names an emerging science that seeks sustainable solutions by mimicking nature’s designs and processes (e.g., solar cells that mimic leaves, agriculture that looks like a prairie, business that runs like a redwood forest).

Janine is a graduate of Rutgers University, New Jersey, with degrees in Forestry and Writing. She has worked as a backpacking guide and as a “translator” of sciencespeak at several research labs. She now writes science books, teaches interpretive writing, lectures at the University of Montana, and works towards restoring and protecting wildlands, and the integration of nature’s wisdom into industrial processes and products.
